Kreuz (2025)

Für den Neubau des Gemeindezentrums der Epiphanias Kirchengemeinde Laineck, Bayreuth-Laineck wurde ich von der Evangel.-Luth. Gesamtkirchengemeinde Bayreuth mit der Anfertigung eines Kruzifixes und verschiedener Antependien für Altar und Ambo beauftragt. Der moderne und ganz in weiß gehaltene "leere" Raum wurde um ein Kreuz aus gefilzter Wolle ergänzt. Das Kreuz entstand aus ca. 400 einzelnen Platten gefilzter Wolle, geschichtet über eine Höhe von 260cm . Die Farben des liturgischen Farbkreises gaben den Ausgangspunkt für den Farbverlauf und die Anordnung der Filzplatten. Der sich so ergebende Rhythmus nimmt nicht nur Bezug auf den liturgischen Jahreskreis, sondern lässt auch einen Lebenskreislauf erahnen. Dem Prinzip des Einkleidens und Bedeckens folgend, wurden für Altar und Ambo Gewänder, jeweils in den Farben ROT / VIOLETT / GRÜN / WEISS, die im Kreuz wiederkehren, angefertigt. Auf diese Weise wirken Kreuz, Altar und Ambo als Einheit zusammen. Durch das Textile sind Wärme und Ruhe visuell und haptisch erfahrbar. Mit dem Auflegen eines Antependiums / Trauerbands aus schwarzer Seide über Altar oder Ambo kann einem speziellen Gedenken Rechnung getragen werden. Die Weihe des Gemeindezentrums der Epiphanias Kirchengemeinde in Bayreuth-Laineck fand am 06. Januar 2026 statt.

For the new community center of the Epiphanias parish in Laineck, Bayreuth-Laineck, I was commissioned by the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Bayreuth to produce a crucifix and various antependia for the altar and ambo. The modern, entirely white "empty" room was supplemented by a cross of felted wool. The cross was made of about 400 individual plates of felted wool layered over a height of 260cm. The colors of the liturgical color circle gave the starting point for the color gradient and the arrangement of the felt plates. The resulting rhythm not only refers to the liturgical cycle of the year, but also suggests a cycle of life. Following the principle of dressing and covering, robes were made for altar and ambo, each in the colors RED / VIOLET / GREEN / WHITE, which return to the cross. In this way, the cross, the altar and the ambo work together as a unit. Through the textile, warmth and tranquility can be experienced visually and haptically. Placing an antependium / mourning band made of black silk over the altar or ambo can be a way to honor a special memorial. The consecration of the community center of the Epiphanias parish in Bayreuth-Laineck took place on January 6, 2026.
